The funding will support Sheffield’s original independent cinema to develop a new film festival for children and young people, and support community outreach and partnerships, new working practices, and increased access to screen culture.

The British Film Institute’s (BFI) £33.5m in support of the UK’s film exhibition and distribution sector, will help regional and national hubs to continue audience-facing work.

Returning with local favourites, rare 35mm screenings, cult anniversaries and guest filmmaker Q&As, this year’s SFF promises a cinematic summer for the steel city and beyond.

Showroom Cinema is projected to save £48,500 annually following the installation of one of the largest solar panel arrays in Sheffield City Centre.
