Child-friendly frights and delights this spooky season at Showroom
With Halloween around the corner, Showroom Cinema hosts a selection of gentler fright-night fare, with relaxed screenings and spooky stories for all ages.
October brings frights and delights for all ages, with a programme packed full of ‘wild’ stories for little ones, lets get into it.
The Lion King is Disney at its most epic, the crown jewel in a series of 90s smash-hits with a theatrical story, iconic villain and unforgettable soundtrack from Elton John.
The lion prince Simba is led to believe he’s responsible for the death of Mufasa (his father). Cast out into the wild, will he return to Pride Rock and reclaim his role in the circle of life? Find out on Saturday 3 October at 11am.
Family Time brings films for ages 5+ each Saturday morning at 11am. Enjoy the pictures in a relaxed setting with softened lighting and Hard of Hearing subtitles where possible.
All tickets are £4.99, little ones can grab a drink and popcorn combo for £4.50, and grown-ups get 10% off café bar food with their ticket.
On Monday 5 October at 11.15am, Toddler Kino screens The Gruffalo, a wonderful adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s story, about a little mouse spinning a yarn of a great beast in the woods. Pitched at 1–4s, Toddler Kino gently introduces the youngest to the big screen. All tickets are just £3.99.
Baby Kino follows at 12.15pm with Digger (15), exclusively for parents or guardians accompanying babies under one year old. Tom Cruise finally plays his age as a powerful businessman racing to save the world from an ecological disaster he unleashed. Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s (Birdman, The Revenant) new comedy is reminiscent of Dr. Strangelove, and stars Cruise alongside Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller and Jesse Plemons. Baby Kino welcomes parents and new babies every Monday, with pram parking, a free hot drink and 10% off café bar food.
Making Halloween plans? Looking ahead throughout October we’ve got spooky tales for all ages, from Silly Symphonies and Julia Donaldson’s Room on the Broom in Toddler Kino, to a collaboration with Celluloid Screams on Night of the Zoopocalypse for Family Time, and an exceedingly groovy Scooby Doo double-bill on Halloween night.
Enjoy all this and more at Showroom Cinema this October.
