Toddler Kino: Silly Symphonies [Spooky Special – Classic Cartoons]

PG

This short selection of Disney short films from the 1920s and 30s is a delightful introduction for adventurous children into the world of classic animation.

The Silly Symphonies were a series of short films produced by Walt Disney Productions as a testing ground for new technologies in animation including technicolour and innovative uses of sound and music.

These three cartoons with slightly spooky themes have been specially selected from the Silly Symphonies catalogue, just in time for Halloween, and will entertain young and old alike.

The cartoons included are:

  • The Old Mill (1937) – Winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film; tells the story of a group of animals living in a dilapidated windmill when it is hit by a storm.

  • The Big Bad Wolf (1934) – Retells the classic Little Red Riding Hood fairytale with charming animation and song.

  • The Skeleton Dance (1929) – The first ever Silly Symphony, directed by Walt Disney himself, does what it says on the tin!

Age guidance: Silly Symphonies is rated U, but we have placed a PG rating for awareness that these films are Halloween themed, with some mild peril, threat, and some friendly, but spooky, skeletons!

Start Time: This screening will feature a shorter than usual amount of adverts and trailers.
