The Evolution of Horror Presents: The Exorcist

18

Join us for a special screening of The Exorcist plus a live introduction and podcast recording with the UK’s biggest horror podcast, The Evolution of Horror. Plus, a chance to win books and merch, courtesy of Penguin Random House, who are releasing ew collector’s-edition hardback of William Peter Blatty’s book.

William Friedkin’s acclaimed adaptation of Blatty’s novel remains one of the most unsettling films ever made. Winner of 1973 Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound Mixing, The Exorcist is a regular feature on lists of the scariest movies ever made.

When 12-year-old Regan MacNeil takes on the characteristics and voices of others, doctors say there is nothing they can do. As people begin to die, the girl's mother begins to suspect her daughter has been possessed by the devil—and that her daughter's only possible hope lies with two priests and the ancient rite of demonic exorcism.

The Evolution of Horror
launched back in 2017 and has since grown to become one of the world’s most successful horror and film history podcasts, winning several awards and accolades. In this weekly podcast, host and creator Mike Muncer explores the history of the horror genre, from silent cinema to modern classics, via different subgenres.

Mike will be joining us before the screening to sell and sign copies of the new book The Evolution of Horror: A Terrifying Guide to Horror Movie History.
