The Death of Robin Hood is a darker reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale. Set of its time, the film sees the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder; a battleworn loner who finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation. Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer star.
Showroom Cinema and Sensoria Festival present this special screening with an introduction and live performance from Jim Ghedi.
Introduction + Live Performance: The screening will be introduced by Sheffield composer and musician Jim Ghedi, who wrote the film's original score, and followed by a special live performance from Jim. We're delighted to welcome Jim - a former Showroom employee and past Sensoria guest - back for this homecoming moment.
Special Preview: This screening is a preview, ahead of the film's general release on Friday 4 September. Tickets for the general release screening will be on sale soon.
About Jim Ghedi
Composer and artist Jim Ghedi crafts a new folk cannon with his epic The Death of Robin Hood Original Soundtrack. Droning harmoniums and hurdy gurdy lay a thick bed of sound for soaring fiddle melodies, with Ghedi's signature wailing vocal occasionally floating on top in this wholly unique approach to film score. Standout track "Twa Corbies" feels like both a call to battle and a painful lament, illustrating Robin Hood's attempts to grapple with his past after a life of crime and murder.
A Word From Jim
"I'm proper buzzed about this Sheffield premiere, to showcase the score I composed for Michael Sarnoski's The Death of Robin Hood film in my hometown to friends and family and to have a Sheffield send off for it at Showroom Cinema - a place that I worked at as a member of staff for years - this event is a real homecoming and it truly does mean a lot to me!
The reclaiming of the legend back on South Yorkshire soil too, at the event I will be discussing the process of composing the score and performing a couple songs at the end too! Let's make it a good'un Sheff!"
