Over the weekend of Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November we will be screening 20 of the very best, audience and judges favourite feature films, one from each year. The event will take place at the Showroom, hosted by festival director Matt Heason. Over the 20 years Matt has watched more than 5,000 adventure films. These are the best of the best. They will be screened in order, split into 8 manageable blocks of between 90 and 150 minutes.
ShAFF Weekend Pass We'd really like to encourage our die-hardest of fans to sign up for the whole weekend, to immerse yourselves in a true evolution of adventure film. As such, until September 20 we will only be selling a full weekend ticket. If there are seats left after September 20 we will release both Saturday and Sunday tickets, as well as individual session tickets.
Saturday Features Programme Block D
Finding Traction
Dir: Charles Dye, Jaime Jacobsen 2015, 56mins
Finding Traction presents the inspirational story of ultra runner Nikki Kimball's quest to become the fastest person in history to run America's oldest hiking trail, the 273-mile Long Trail.
Kayaking The Aleutians
Dir: Justine Curgenven, 2016, 48mins
No one has succeeded in kayaking the length of the remote and stormy Aleutian Islands which stretch from Russia to Alaska. Explorers Justine Curgenven and Sarah Outen set out to paddle 2,500km along the archipelago to the nearest road confronting more than 20 long crossings which separate the tiny, unpopulated islands. Sarah faces an even more formidable challenge as this is part of her round-the-world human-powered journey, and she has limited kayaking experience.
Dodo’s Delight
Dir: Sean Villanueva-O'Driscoll, Josh Lowell, Nick Rosen, Peter Mortimer, 2025, 28mins
Jump on board a madcap sailing adventure to the biggest rock walls in the Arctic Circle with a team of elite climbers as zany as they are talented. Sean Villanueva, Nico Favresse, Olivier Favresse and Ben Ditto have made cutting edge first ascents in remote mountain ranges around the world -- climbing hard, making music and goofing off thousands of feet in the air. Now they embark on their greatest expedition yet, voyaging to the massive walls of Greenland and Baffin Island on the good ship Dodo’s Delight, skippered by the spry 79-year old Captain Bob Shepton.
