SHAFF Retrospective: Saturday - Block B

12A

Over the weekend of Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November we will be screening 20 of the very best, audience and judges favourite feature films, one from each year. The event will take place at the Showroom, hosted by festival director Matt Heason. Over the 20 years Matt has watched more than 5,000 adventure films. These are the best of the best. They will be screened in order, split into 8 manageable blocks of between 90 and 150 minutes.

ShAFF Weekend Pass We'd really like to encourage our die-hardest of fans to sign up for the whole weekend, to immerse yourselves in a true evolution of adventure film. As such, until September 20 we will only be selling a full weekend ticket. If there are seats left after September 20 we will release both Saturday and Sunday tickets, as well as individual session tickets.

Saturday Features Programme Block B

Journey Of A Red Fridge

Dir: Lucian Muntean, Natasa Urban, 2009, 52mins

Set against the 8000-meter peaks of the Himalayan Mountains, 17 year-old Hari Rai has been hired to carry a huge, red Coca-Cola fridge from his home village in the mountains to a repair centre in the neighbouring city. We travel with Rai on his long journey and we listen intently to his quiet, yet determined story.

Birdman Of The Karakoram

Dir: Alun Hughes 2010, 64mins

What's it really like to fly at 7,000 m, crossing frozen mountains, soaring massive rockwalls and forging new cross country routes on a paraglider in the Himalayas? To find out, adventure filmmaker Alun Hughes joins high altitude paragliding star John Silvester on a tandem paraglider and goes 'col busting' in the Karakoram.
