Kaijuly Sunday Pass

12A

This pass entitles you to access all films in the Kaijuly Sunday programme.

For Kajuly’s third year at the Showroom, we’re going bigger and better, with a weekend-long concentrated dose of seven kaiju classics. Previously we’ve celebrated the 70th and 60th anniversaries of Godzilla and Gamera respectively, but this year the rubber monster gloves are off and we’re paying reverence to giant creatures of all kinds.

Naturally, Godzilla opens this year’s screenings with Godzilla vs Biollante, a Heisei era bout that pits the big G against the titular mutant plant monster. In Godzilla vs Hedorah, one of the most unique films of the Showa era, Godzilla’s opponent is an equally bizarre creature, personifying pollution as an amorphous smog monster.

Last year Gamera: Guardian of the Universe proved to be an audience darling, so we’re bringing everyone’s favourite giant turtle back to our screens to complete the trilogy with Gamera 2: Attack of Legion and Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris.

Moving beyond Japan, we bring Kaijuly closer to home with Gorgo, a 60s British kaiju spectacular that unleashes prehistoric creatures upon the streets of London. And across the pond, we have Roland Emmerich’s Godzilla, a blockbuster Jurassic Park-esque reimagining of Ishirō Honda’s 1954 original. Finally, completing a kind of kaiju cultural exchange, America’s own most famous monster is given a Japanese twist as he faces the fearsome Mechani-Kong in King Kong Escapes (also directed by Honda!).

From Japan’s greatest superstars to their global copycats, this Kaijuly has something for everyone. Secure your pass to ensure you don’t miss a single screening!
