Far from home in Buenos Aires, Hong Kong lovers Lai Yiu-fai and Ho Po-wing struggle to sustain their turbulent relationship. As repeated attempts at reconciliation give way to loneliness and emotional exhaustion, the unfamiliar landscapes of Argentina become a powerful reflection of their displacement.
Starring Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Leslie Cheung, Happy Together is one of Wong Kar-wai’s most intimate and visually striking films. Released in the year of Hong Kong’s handover, it explores love, sexuality, migration and belonging, raising questions about what it means to find home when both relationships and identities remain uncertain.
