A new Film Studies course that offers you the chance to see the latest releases and discuss them with like-minded film fans in discussion groups twice a month.
If you love talking about cinema, join Dr Sheldon Hall for Film Club, our new eight-week course during which you will watch a new release from Showroom’s programme and, in the following week, join like-minded film fans to discuss what you’ve seen. The discussions will be led by Dr Hall, who will also provide his own insight and analysis.
Once you sign up, you can pick your preferred screening of the week’s chosen film, and the group discussions occur fortnightly at 11am.
This eight week course runs from Friday 4 September to Tuesday 27 October, with the first lecture beginning on Tuesday 15 September.
Film Club Pass
Your Film Club pass entitles you to entry into the four new release screenings selected for the course, and the four subsequent discussion groups.

About the tutor: Dr Sheldon Hall
Dr Sheldon Hall is an Emeritus Fellow at Sheffield Hallam University, where he taught for 27 years. He has been leading Film Studies courses at the Showroom since 1998. A former film journalist, he is the author of many articles on cinema history and has written, edited or contributed to more than two dozen books. Most recently, he is the author of Armchair Cinema: A History of Feature Films on British Television, 1929-1981 and co-editor of Film Critics and British Film Culture: New Shots in the Dark (both published by Edinburgh University Press). His blog Sheldon Times is at SheldonTimesHall.com and his podcast review series with Christopher Hall (no relation), Halls on Film, is available on Apple and other online platforms.
