Adventure: ShAFF People's Choice Winner - The Oldest Munro Bagger

12A

The 2026 People's Choice Award winner at this year's ShAFF.

Filmed over four years, The Oldest Munro Bagger follows 80-year-old Nick Gardner as he attempts to complete all 282 of Scotland's Munros in the wake of his beloved wife's dementia diagnosis. An uplifting story of resilience, hope and love for the mountains, it documents the emotional highs & lows, and the physical & psychological challenges he encounters along the way. A moving, authentic story of enduring love and growth, told against the breathtaking backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.

Screening with short film To The Sea: In 2013, Ben and Hugo travelled to North Sweden to build a raft from salvaged materials in a small town near the source of the Vindel River. What began as fun 2-week holiday turned into an epic challenge - to travel 350km down the Vindelalven out to the Baltic Sea. With basic kit, limited experience, and almost no expectations, the two return to the river each year to continue the journey, hiding the raft (named Melissa) in the forest to await their return.
