This session brings together co-founder of the Re-Action Collective, Gavin Fernie-Jones and adaptive clothing designer Alice Sainsbury to share the work of the Re-Action Collective. The session begins with a screening of the film ACTionism. The film explores how collective action, creativity, and shared purpose can be tools for social and environmental change. The screening is followed by a social cinema-style conversation, inviting the audience into an open discussion about collaboration, participation, and what it means to act together rather than alone.
More about Alice and Gavin
Alice Sainsbury is a creative director and consultant working across disability, outdoor culture, and inclusive design. Her work centres on listening, collaboration, and challenging systems that exclude disabled people, including through projects such as UN[PARA]LD.
Gavin Fernie-Jones is co-founder of the Re-Action Collective, a global network of citizen-led organisations re-imagining the outdoor industry through circular, community-driven solutions. After beginning his career owning ski shops in the French Alps, a community repair event sparked his commitment to citizen-centred approaches. He has since helped grow Re-Action into a global network keeping outdoor gear in use and outdoor participation more accessible. Having grown up at Lockerbrook Outdoor Centre, this event feels like a homecoming.
