Showroom Cinema and Film Girls Galore are bringing the dystopia of Panem to Sheffield for one unmissable day. On Sunday 28 June, audiences are invited to settle in for a back-to-back screening of all four Hunger Games films, from the very beginning of Katniss Everdeen's journey right through to the revolution's end. Doors open at 11am, giving you plenty of time to grab a themed drink before we enter the arena.
Unlike Film Girls Galore's regular events, which are designed specifically for women as part of its mission to combat loneliness and build friendships through cinema, this marathon is open to all. Whether you're a die-hard fan or someone who's never set foot in Panem, you're welcome. The timing couldn't be better either. With the brand-new instalment, Sunrise On The Reaping coming to screens in November 2026, this is the perfect opportunity to return to the start.
For the uninitiated, the films follow teenager Katniss, who volunteers to take her sister's place in the Hunger Games: a televised fight to the death in which two teenagers from each of Panem's twelve Districts are forced to compete.
Alongside the screenings, Film Girls Galore will be fundraising for MediCinema, a charity that brings the shared cinema experience to NHS patients and their families, using the magic of film to improve wellbeing and quality of life. Handmade Hunger Games-inspired friendship bracelets will be available on the day in lieu of donations, and a link to give directly can be found via Film Girls Galore's Instagram bio @ FilmGirlsGalore. Film Girls Galore organiser Tash is excited to bring the group’s second movie marathon event to Showroom: “After the success of 2025's Twilight marathon, I wanted to do something that could open the doors even wider. The Hunger Games, epic and nostalgic as it is, feels like the perfect franchise for that.”
Tickets are priced at £12 per film (£10 concession), or just £6 with a free CINE26 membership, available to 16 to 26 year olds. For those planning to stay for the full day, a day pass offers the best value at £25 for adults, £22 for concessions, or £20 with a CINE26 membership.
Head to Showroom Cinema on Sunday 28 June and prepare to spend the day transported back into the world of Panem. May the odds be ever in your favour. Book now at https://showroomcinema.org.uk/festivals/the-hunger-games-marathon
