Our Family Time strand joins Sheffield Film Festival 2026 this Saturday 12 September at 11am with Future Council (PG), a hopeful documentary from director Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film).
Eight children set off on the ultimate school trip: a road trip across Europe in a biofuel-powered bus, on a mission to lobby powerful leaders over climate change, pollution and the biodiversity crisis. Frustrated by the lack of meaningful action to protect the planet and their futures, they head into the boardrooms of some of the world's largest polluters to better understand our predicament, explore solutions and challenge companies to act.
The screening is followed by free badge making in the Showroom Café Bar, where families can showcase a message about what they believe in. Sheffield Film Festival is Showroom Cinema's annual celebration of the city's and the region's film heritage and wider film culture. Family Time screenings are relaxed, with low-level lighting and Hard of Hearing subtitles where possible; all tickets are £4.99.
Also this weekend, Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom returns to the big screen, with preview screenings on 12 and 13 September ahead of its general release on Friday 18 September. On Halloween Eve at Mossy Bottom Farm, the clumsy Farmer trashes the flock's beloved pumpkin patch. When Shaun turns mad scientist to put things right, matters quickly spiral out of control, and with the Farmer missing and a wild beast prowling the woods of Mossingham, a monstrously fun family adventure follows.
On Monday 14 September at 11.15am, Toddler Kino presents The Wrong Trousers (U), the Oscar-winning animated Wallace and Gromit adventure. The pair are plunged into a hilarious tale of skulduggery involving an extraordinary pair of automated trousers and a villainous penguin, with Peter Sallis voicing Wallace.
Finally, Baby Kino screens Pressure (12A) on Monday 14 September at 12.15pm, exclusively for parents or guardians accompanying babies under one year old. In the tense 72 hours before D-Day, General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Captain James Stagg face an impossible choice: launch history's largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion, or risk losing the war. Every ticket includes a free tea or coffee, plus 10% off café bar food, with pram parking too.
