Families at Showroom this Week: Shrek, Crafts and Facepainting

Out of summer holiday plans? Showroom's family films serve up cinema magic all week long.

On Monday 24 August, for our Toddler Kino strand, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Stories showcases five of the best tales by author and illustrator Eric Carle.

These wonderful short films delight the senses, with their gentle, colourful music and sparkling hand-drawn animation. After the screening, we'll have free crafts in the Showroom Café Bar so you and your little one can carry on the adventure!

Toddler Kino is perfect for ages 1–4, giving your little ones their first cinema experience in a welcoming, relaxed environment, every Monday at 11.15am. For slightly older film fans, we recommend Family Time.

This week's screening celebrates the 25th – yes 25th! – anniversary of Shrek on Saturday 22 August at 11am.

We return to Duloc for the tale of the beloved and cranky ogre on a quest to reclaim his swamp. Featuring the vocal talents of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, the subversive fairytale is just as funny and heartwarming a quarter century on. This is the perfect occasion to introduce little ones to a millennial childhood staple. Stay for free face painting in the café after the screening.

Our Family Time strand screens every Saturday at 11am, with films suitable for ages 5+ in a relaxed setting, with low-level lighting and Hard of Hearing subtitles where possible.

Children attending any of our family screenings can enjoy a small drink and popcorn combo for just £4.50, while adults save 10% off their food bill in the café bar when they present their ticket for Family Time, Baby Kino or Toddler Kino screenings.

Finally, Lady (15) screens as part of Baby Kino on Monday 24 August at 12.15pm. After her brilliant turn as Fleabag's sister, Sian Clifford is back to steal this off-beat mockumentary as the eccentric aristocrat Lady Isabella, profiled in her lonely mansion by a struggling film crew.

Baby Kino, our parent and new baby programme, runs every Monday at 12.15pm and includes pram parking and a complimentary hot drink with every ticket.
