On Monday 7 September at 11.15am, our weekly Toddler Kino strand blasts off for the moon with the Aardman classic A Grand Day Out (U).
Wallace and his capable dog Gromit can't decide where to go for their yearly picnic, so they build a home-made rocket and, with sizeable appetites, aim for the moon in the hope it's made of cheese. Their tasting session angers the moon's mechanical caretaker, and in the scrape that follows the pair help the little robot chase a dream of its own.
Pitched at 1–4s, Toddler Kino gently introduces the youngest to the big screen. Bringing a slightly older film fan too? Try Family Time. This strand runs every Saturday at 11am with films for ages 5+, in a relaxed setting with softened lighting and Hard of Hearing subtitles where possible.
This week Family Time is all about curiosity, with Shorts for Families 2026 (PG) on Saturday 5 September at 11am.
This collection of shorts from France, Portugal, Germany, the Czech Republic and the UK gathers stories for children aged 7 and above. Across a range of animation techniques, curiosity carries the characters forward: a girl looks up from her phone screen and finds the wider universe, a robot bee on Mars uncovers the powers of a peculiar plant, Lola reaches her neurodiverse brother through a hand-made sound piano, a child and an otter-like companion seek a cure for a water shortage, and a mischievous wolf with an inky nose pulls everyone into his messy way of life.
Drop in to the Café Bar before or after to make simple stop-motion animations with just pen, paper and your phone through the free 'Animade Frames' app.
At both screenings, little ones can grab a drink and popcorn combo for £4.50, and grown-ups can get 10% off café bar food with their ticket.
Finally, The Incomer (12A) screens as part of Baby Kino on Monday 7 September at 12.15pm, exclusively for parents or guardians accompanying babies under one year old.
