Beautiful 60s animation, rebellious fairy tales and a myth for the ages, there’s plenty for children and families at Showroom this week.
On Family Time this Saturday, journey north with The Little Norse Prince, a classic of Japanese animation. Young Horus recovers the Sword of the Sun from the rock giant Moog and returns to his village to defend it from the ice demon Grundewald. Along the way he befriends the mysterious Hilda, whose haunting songs conceal a dark secret. Catch it on Saturday 18 July at 11.00. Family Time is part of Myths and Magic, supported by the East Midlands Railway Community Fund.
For the littlest film fans, Toddler Kino is now weekly throughout the summer, giving ages 1-4 the perfect first taste of cinema. On Monday 20 July at 11.15am, enjoy Revolting Rhymes - Part 1, the first of two animations based on Roald Dahl’s rhymes. Snow White takes on the wicked Queen, while Red Riding Hood deals with two hungry wolves.
Both Family Time and Toddler Kino screenings take place in a relaxed setting, with low-level lighting and Hard of Hearing subtitles where possible. Show your ticket in our Café Bar for 10% off food and 20% off hot drinks.
It’s all part of Great British Summer Savings: children’s tickets are £4.50 for Family Time and £3.50 for Toddler Kino, while family group tickets for our regular screenings are down to £13 for one adult and one child, or £21.50 for two adults and two children, until 1 September 2026.
Rounding off the week in Baby Kino is The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s mythic action epic shot across the world, bringing Homer’s foundational saga to film screens for the first time, starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.
See it on Monday 20 July at 12.15, starting at the advertised time with a small selection of trailers. Baby Kino is exclusively for parents and guardians with babies under one, and each ticket includes a free tea or coffee and 10% off food in our Café Bar.
