Families at Showroom this Week: Forest Magic, Dragon School and a Trip Back to 2008

Magical forests, dragon school and a time-travelling comedy, there’s plenty for children and families at Showroom this week.

On Family Time this Saturday, step into an enchanted Ukrainian forest with Mavka: The Forest Song. When the spirited forest nymph Mavka falls for Lucas, a village artist, their forbidden romance ruffles feathers among the forest spirits, not least Mavka’s protective father. As a dark force threatens their home, the pair set out to save both their worlds, discovering love, bravery and the deep connections of nature along the way. Catch it on Saturday 11 July at 11.00.

For the littlest film fans, Toddler Kino is now weekly throughout the summer, giving ages 1–4 the perfect first taste of cinema. On Monday 13 July at 11.15am, meet Zog, a keen but accident-prone young dragon finding his feet (and wings) at Dragon School. This charming, animated adventure is based on the book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

Both Family Time and Toddler Kino screenings take place in a relaxed setting, with low-level lighting and Hard of Hearing subtitles where possible. Show your ticket in our Café Bar for 10% off food and 20% off hot drinks, perfect for a post-screening snack.

It’s all part of a summer of Great British Summer Savings, too: children’s tickets are just £4.50 for Family Time and £3.50 for Toddler Kino, while family group tickets for our regular screenings are down to £13 for one adult and one child, or £21.50 for two adults and two children, until 1 September 2026.

Rounding off the week in Baby Kino is Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, a gloriously chaotic comedy about best friends Matt and Jay, whose latest scheme to book a gig at the Rivoli goes horribly wrong, and accidentally sends them hurtling back to the year 2008.

See it on Monday 13 July at 12.15. Baby Kino is designed exclusively for parents and guardians with babies under one, and each ticket includes a complimentary hot drink and plenty of pram parking. Browse the full programme at: https://showroomcinema.org.uk/cinema-clubs/children-and-families

And if you haven’t heard yet, Showroom is launching a brand-new family festival for big and small screens this summer. Don’t miss PLAY from 29 July – 9 August. Learn more at: https://showroomcinema.org.uk/festivals/PLAY2026
