This week, Showroom Cinema's family programme includes two new baa-rilliant (sorry) features from Sony: GOAT and The Sheep Detectives.
Throughout May, Family Time screens the best new releases for families, kicking off with this year’s GOAT. An underdog (or caprine?) story, this original action-comedy set in an all-animal world follows Will (voiced by Stranger Things’s Caleb McLaughlin), a small goat with big dreams who gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to join the pros and play roarball – a high-intensity, co-ed, full-contact sport dominated by the fastest, fiercest animals in the world. From Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the artists that made K-Pop Demon Hunters, the plot is loosely based on the upbringing and career of NBA champion Stephen Curry. The star-studded cast led by McLaughlin, features the vocal talents of Gabrielle Union (She’s All That), and Nick Kroll (Smurfs).
Family Time screenings every Saturday at 11am are a great opportunity for an affordable day out with the kids. These relaxed weekly screenings feature a varied programme of family favourites, with low-level lighting and, where possible, Hard of Hearing subtitles. All tickets are £6, making it an accessible treat for the whole family.
For new parents, Showroom offers a weekly dedicated screening of the biggest releases. On Monday 11 May we bring you a Hugh Jackman’s latest, The Sheep Detectives. A cross between Babe and The Thursday Murder Club, a group of sheep set out to solve the murder of their shepherd. Along with a cameo from Emma Thompson, the cast includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Chris O'Dowd and Bryan Cranston, among several other recognisable voices as the sheepy sleuths. With softer sound and low lighting, plus a large pram park, Baby Kino is designed to help new parents feel at ease while feeding and moving around. Each ticket includes a hot drink.
We will have more screenings of The Sheep Detectives throughout the week. Why not take advantage of one of our family ticket options? Adult and child for £15, or a family of four for £27.50. Under 15s can enjoy a small drink and popcorn combo for £4.50, and families attending Toddler Kino and Family Time can take advantage of discounts in the Café Bar.
