Awards season 2026 reaches its thrilling finale this weekend, with this year’s Academy Awards (Sunday 15 March). If you’ve not kept up with the biggest releases of 2025, fear not: Showroom Cinema has you covered.
Join us in the Café Bar for a live screening of this year’s Oscar’s ceremony, Hollywood’s biggest night of the year. Settle in with a drink from the bar, grab something indulgent from the deli, and watch the winners revealed in real time alongside fellow film lovers. The big award of Best Picture this year seems to have culminated in a head-to-head race between two juggernauts in One Battle After Another and Sinners. One Battle… is the clear favourite, having already taken home Best Picture at the Golden Globes / PGA / BAFTA, but Sinners has broken the record for most Oscar nominations in history with 16, and has recently won the main prize at SAG. With momentum building, who will win?
The strong favourite in this year’s Best Actress category is Irish star Jessie Buckley, for her towering performance as Agnes in Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet. Performing opposite indie film heartthrob Paul Mescal, the film tells the story of Will and Agnes Shakespeare as they come to terms with the tragic loss of their son Hamnet.
In Sentimental Value, Stellan Skarsgård plays a famous filmmaker who reignites difficult relationships with his estranged daughters, when he returns to create his new film in their family home. Lead actress Renate Reinsve reteams with director Joachim Trier following their award-winning work on The Worst Person in the World, and stars alongside breakout Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Elle Fanning. All four cast members are nominated for acting awards at the Oscar’s this year, with Trier also up for Best Director, and the film the frontrunner in Best International Feature.
