Film Studies: Bad Education

15

Bad Education is a noir inflected drama that combines fragments from 1964, 1977, and 1980. The central character is a filmmaker adapting schoolfriend’s short story about events that happened to both of them in the 1960s in a boarding school run by abusive priests. In this lecture, we will explore the filmic creation of memory, how one reimagines the collective past, and use and abuse of nostalgia in fictional and cinematic forms.
