Little Shop of Horrors is a darkly comic musical about Seymour (Rick Moranis, Ghostbusters), a timid flower shop assistant who discovers a strange and exotic plant with a terrifying secret—it feeds on human blood. Naming it Audrey II after his kind-hearted colleague Audrey (Ellen Greene, Naked Gun 33 1/3), Seymour is soon thrust into the spotlight as the plant draws in customers and fame. But as Audrey II’s appetite grows, so does the cost of keeping it alive, leading Seymour down a path of increasingly grim choices. Meanwhile, Audrey’s sadistic boyfriend, a leather-clad dentist (Steve Martin, Planes, Trains & Automobiles), adds another layer of twisted humour to the mix.
Directed by Frank Oz, known for his work with The Muppets and later acclaimed films like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and What About Bob?, the film blends sharp satire with toe-tapping musical numbers and B-movie charm.
An 80s icon, Little Shop of Horrors endures for its quirky characters, unforgettable soundtrack, and gleeful collision of horror and hilarity.
