A sinister twist on the classic Cinderella story, The Ugly Stepsister follows Elvira as she prepares to earn the prince’s affection at any cost. In a kingdom where beauty is a brutal business, Elvira will compete with the beautiful and enchanting Agnes to become the belle of the ball.

The directorial debut of Emilie Blichfeldt, this feminist horror-comedy was acclaimed after it’s premieres at the Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals. The film has drawn comparisons to 2024’s smash hit The Substance, as it tackles the harms of beauty standards through a gory fairy tale.
