After his mother’s sudden death, Courgette is befriended by a police officer, Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home filled with other orphans his age.

At first, he struggles to find his place in this often strange and hostile environment. Yet, with Raymond’s help and his newfound friends, Courgette eventually learns to trust and love, as he searches for a new family of his own.

Screening as part of our Sheffield Film Festival special mini-season which showcases the diverse range of family-friendly films championed by Showroom over the past 30 years. My Life as a Courgette is a modern stop-motion classic which is beloved by children for its colourful world and funny characters, whilst adults appreciate the emotional depth of its themes.

This Academy Award-nominated animation was written by the wonderful Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Petite Maman), and directed by Claude Barras, who’s beautiful new film Savages is released at Showroom on 1 August.

My Life as a Courgette is rated PG, as it contains mild sex references and references to traumatic childhood experiences. For fans of Flow, Wallace and Gromit, and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.

The film will be screened in the English language dub.

Family Time screenings are relaxed and feature subtitles and low-level lighting for accessibility and comfort for all. All tickets are £6.
