Orphaned and alone except for an uncle, Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield) lives in the walls of a train station in 1930s Paris. Hugo's job is to oil and maintain the station's clocks, but to him, his more important task is to protect a broken automaton and notebook left to him by his late father (Jude Law).

Accompanied by the goddaughter (Chloë Grace Moretz) of an embittered toy merchant (Ben Kingsley), Hugo embarks on a quest to solve the mystery of the automaton and find a place he can call home.

Hugo is an acclaimed family film directed by cinema legend Martin Scorsese which was nominated for numerous awards including Best Picture at the Academy Awards. The film follows a mystery which involves pioneering filmmaker, Georges Melies and his magical short film, A Trip to the Moon – a must watch with the kids when you get home!

Screening as part of our Sheffield Film Festival special mini-season which showcases the diverse range of family-friendly films championed by Showroom over the past 30 years. Hugo was selected as a glorious celebration of cinema and an enrapturing adventure for all ages.

Hugo is rated U, though it contains mild scenes of danger. For fans of A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Secret Garden, and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

Family Time screenings are relaxed and feature subtitles and low-level lighting for accessibility and comfort for all. All tickets are £6.
