Pavements is a genre-bending music biopic that sees cult ‘90s indie-rock band Pavement reuniting for their sold-out 2022 tour. But as preparations get underway, surreal tributes emerge: an off-Broadway musical adaptation of their songs, a museum devoted entirely to the band’s legacy, and a shamelessly awards-baiting Hollywood biopic with a host of recognisable faces including Joe Keery (Stranger Things) as Stephen Malkmus.

Fusing the history and story of the band with parodies of the music biopic genre and reunion nostalgia, Alex Ross Perry successfully fuses documentary with comedy to make a truly unique film that matches Pavement’s tongue-in-cheek creativity and electrifying experimentation.
