Witness 90 years of the ‘Steel City’, captured on film, reflecting the people, changing places and the unique identity of Sheffield.

There’s nowhere on Earth quite like Sheffield. Presented by the Yorkshire Film Archive, Sheffield on Film celebrates the proud history and unique cultural identity of the city. From early moving-image pioneers to local filmmakers and regional television news and programming, this specially curated production brings together nine decades of fascinating footage from the vaults. It’s a joyous, emotional and impactful cinematic melting pot that showcases Sheffield and its screen heritage; moving from the resilience of a population during wartime, to generations of people at work and play. This premiere event opens a window onto the places, industries, traditions and major events that have impacted the everyday lives of the city’s rich and varied populace.

These special screenings of Sheffield on Film will be hosted and presented by director Graham Relton.

Part of Sheffield Film Festival, Showroom Cinema’s annual celebration of the city’s rich film heritage and the thriving film culture of Sheffield and the surrounding region.
