Mulholland Drive follows young aspiring actress Betty (Naomi Watts) who arrives in Los Angeles with dreams of becoming a star. After a car crash on Mulholland Drive, she encounters a mysterious amnesiac woman named Rita (Laura Harring) who is suffering from memory loss. Together, they embark on a surreal and twisted journey to uncover the truth behind Rita's identity and the events that led them to Mulholland Drive.
Blurring the lines between reality and fantasy and delving into the dark and complex subconscious of the characters, Mulholland Drive is filled with Lynch's trademark symbolism, haunting visuals, and a nonlinear narrative structure, which create a sense of unease and mystery throughout the film, which is an unmissable cinematic experience.
Mulholland Drive has become acclaimed as one of David Lynch’s defining works and one of the most important films of recent decades. The film topped the BBC Culture’s poll of the greatest films of the 21st Century in 2016 and recently placed in the Top 5 of the Hollywood Reporter’s critics poll of the best films of the same period, cementing the film’s reputation as modern classic.
