This month on Family Time, we’re celebrating all things France, inspired by our friends at French Film Festival. This week, the festival brings us a brand-new, beautifully animated feature.
Ten-year-old Nina has always filled her imagination with the tales of a hedgehog her father tells her every night before she goes to sleep. But when her dad loses his job, Nina starts to worry about the future of her family.
After hearing rumours of a treasure hidden in his old factory, she and her best friend Mehdi decide to embark on a risky hold-up and wild adventure to search for the swag and share it between her father and his fellow co-workers. Thus, an incredible adventure begins.
Directed by Alain Gagnol and Jean-Loup Felicioli, the Academy Award-nominated directors of A Cat in Paris (playing Family Time on 29 November), Nina and the Hedgehog’s Secret was a hit at last year’s Dundee Discovery Film Festival.
Nina and the Hedgehog’s Secret is likely to be rated PG, as it contains some scary scenes. For fans of Ernest and Celestine, Savages and Song of the Sea.
Please note this film will screen in the original French with English subtitles.
About Family Time
Family Time screenings are relaxed and feature Hard of Hearing subtitles (where possible) and low-level lighting for accessibility and comfort for all. All tickets are £6. Films including Hard of Hearing Subtitles include the 'S' badge.
Foreign Language Subtitles: this film will be screened in French with English translation subtitles, rather than Head of Hearing subtitles. This means that subtitles will include spoken dialogue, but not descriptions of non-verbal sounds such as music.
