Behind the Scenes: Herzog & Coppola

Celebrating the 4K restorations of two seminal ‘behind-the-scenes’ filmmaking documentaries, Showroom is proud to present both films alongside their subjects for an unmissable pair of double bills.

Behind the Scenes showcases Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse, in which Eleanor Coppola documented the troubled production of Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now.

Alongside Hearts of Darkness plays Les Blank and Maureen Gosling’s Burden of Dreams, which follows Werner Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo shoot in Peru, including details of the infamous boat transportation.

Two epic films with equally epic stories behind their production, these documentaries are magnificent pieces of filmmaking in their own right, which have earned their own moment on the big screen. Paired with their companion film, what better way to spend a summers day but in the cinema immersing yourself in these incredible stories?
